TOPIC: Children who lie and/or steal

Learning Description

This course helps foster parents develop interventions with children who lie or steal. The central goal of this course is to provide a better understanding of the “function” of why foster children do these behaviors. The types of interventions that work best and development of empathy for these children is central to the discussion.

Learning Objectives

  1. Help parents dampen down their reactions to these behaviors.
  2. Identify the functions of lying and stealing.
  3. Develop methods of reducing these behaviors through use of functional analysis.
  4. Increase participants understanding of the cultural, social and functions of these most troubling behaviors.
