Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of Hope’s Closet and essential to the continued support of local children in foster care. We have been blessed with committed volunteers who spend time sorting, shopping with our clients and much more! Our services are very important to help support foster families.

We have opportunities to serve that meet all schedules, talents, and passions, including:

Shopping Assistant Team

Shopping Assistants serve by providing windows of available time each week to shop with foster parents and children.  This could be an hour or more on a single day, an hour on several days, or several hours on several days.  Shopping Assistants arrive approximately 15 minutes before the appointment to ensure the boutique is ready for the appointment, including ensuring lights are on and doors are open.  These volunteers warmly greet foster parents and children, assist them as they select items, compliment good choices, build rapport with families and follow up after the appointment.

Donation Sorting Team

Sorting Team volunteers process all incoming donations.  All donations are inspected for excessive wear, holes, stains, functional buttons and zippers, and current style.  They are then classified by gender and season.  The inventory team completes a final quality inspection before the clothing is  stored in our available items bins by gender, season and size.

Boutique Zone Team

Each area of our boutique is managed by a volunteer who ensures that the area is clean, well maintained and contains only the best quality items for the children we serve.

Special Events Team

This team of volunteers plan and/or facilitate activities throughout the year.  These events include Delight Whole Family Activities and other large events.

Volunteer Orientation

If you would like to become a volunteer, sign up for a Volunteer Orientation session today! Sessions are as follows:

• The first Monday of each month from 9-11 AM
• The third Tuesday of each month from 4-6 PM
